Manly just because.

Greetings

Hey everybody. So I'm back from the vgl trip, had fun. Here's a breakdown:

-Woke up at 5:30 in the morning refreshed.
-Bussed/skytrained out to surrey, spent around twenty minutes saying "nope".
-Finally met Morgan, pretty cool guy.
-We bussed out to Tsawwassen, got on the ferry.
-Did all of the above ahead of schedule.
-Arrived in Victoria.
-We all developed our evil sides while in Starbucks.
-Minor setback at the hotel.
-Spent two hours looking for a restaurant, ended up eating at the mall.
-Finding Audrey's cousin was a pain at first.
-VGL: Pregame show had a few demos, not much. I still suck with heights, damn it.
-VGL: Show was AMAZING, shed tears to the Chrono trigger and Sonic performances.
-VGL: RALF BAER ON SKYPE (Dude who made Pong, just a little important to me).
-Detoured back to the hotel due to road closures.
-Went to Macs for Pizza Pops and instant noodles.
-Back in the hotel, ate talk, talked some more while in bed.
-Got scared twice while in bed, damn it Audrey.
-Woke up to loud alarm clock, it also scared me.
-Ate what I could of an awesome breakfast on Morgan, thanks again.
-Visited some comic shops across the street from the hotel. Got the 1st collection of Ultimate Spider-Man, and the Metal Gear Solid 2 Complete Works comic.
-Bussed back to ferry.
-Got on ferry.
-Ate some fries.
-Had some memories.
-Ate more fries.
-Got off the ferry.
-Bussed back to surrey, trip seemed to take forever.
-Morgan left the party.
-1st skytrain: Kuu left the party.
-Skytrain/bus back to Audrey's place.
-Looked at WoW.
-Ate some chicken nuggets while deciphering internet memes.
-Got home.
-Passed out after some talking with the family.

It was quite the trip, awesome time guys!

btw, I WANT TO GET OUT OF FRIGGIN' SCHOOL, GRADUATION SOUNDS NICE.

Lunch Break: 09/05/09

Hey everyone, on the lunch break here. Eatin' some instant noodles 'cause they're instant.

So over the past four hours it's occurred to me that I don't mind painting all that much - I just don't enjoy painting corridors all that much, it gets monotonous. I'm currently painting the poles outside that prevent people from crashing their vehicles into anything important (Such as the gate controls). My first outing with oil paint, it's not that different from matte paint; It just dries glossy which messes with my head.

Speaking of the workday, I had the hardest time waking up this morning. Like falling asleep sitting up hard. An hour ago I started dozing off while waiting for the paint to dry too, damn I must be tired. Gotta sleep earlier! (40% chance of that actually happening)

And the plans for VGL look to be solid, I am quite looking forward to this trip. I'll try and remember to bring the camera so I can show some pictures of the experience. The only catch is that this next week's gonna be freakin' hectic for me. I'm working extra hours to assure I'll have enough money to afford the trip. I also have a few tests to write as well as the normal household upkeep. So expect some form of tired/grumpy post then.

Uhh, what else...? Super expensive labtop needed for the program I plan on applying for. Not much of a portfolio needed for this, just a very good computer with specific requirements (Win/Lose).

That's all for now. Ohyeah: Always check the due date of your milk before you pour it, you may be in for a surprise. o.O

Not around me plz

Messages from the ill

Hey everyone. So I guess the cold season's just not quite done with me yet this year, damn it. Last weekend I was feeling small symptoms of allergies, little did I know it would evolve into something cruel and unusual; Here's a breakdown of its "stages" so far: Saturday night - alright my heads congested and I'm overall feeling like crap. Sunday night - I rub my eye because it feels like an eyelash got in there or something, nope pinkeye. Monday night/morning - wake up at 4AM... I can't hear properly out of my ear, queue the pain and you've got an earache that has me up for two and a half hours. So now I'm sitting here with my other ear, not in pain, but feeling stuffy alongside other misc. head congestion as I type this up. I HATE BEING SICK, JUST THOUGHT YOU'D WANNA KNOW =,=

In other news, I've started working again in hopes that the Video Games Live plans go through as we all hope. Working's pretty nice when it isn't one monotonous activity all day long. Oh, and btw bulldogs are still extremely intimidating to me even if they're smiling and not being hostile.

Now for something that doesn't make it seem like I'm tying this up in a frustrated rage. I beat the first part of Super Mario Galaxy last night, holy that made me so happy. It reminded me of all the stuff I've done Mario-wise throughout my life, I should really pick up Sunshine...

And that's all I've got for you right now. So remember: Always check to see how hot your tea is before attempting to chug it.

EXTREEEEME close-up

Damnit

Hey everyone, I woke up twenty five minutes ago. I can't speak, or breathe through my nose, I thought I was done with this cold. At least I don't feel overly bad or anything, only those two symptoms. So I've been told to stay home to day.

Damn, and I actually kind of wanted to go to class today too.

Spring Break Report

My last spring break... What a weird way of thinking about it. It's been around 50/50, the small amount of good did well at balancing out all the bad.

I had my birthday party today, it was lots of fun. We played some games, socialized, and just had a good time. This is the first party I've ever had where every(one)thing felt together, which makes me happy as the person hosting it. Awman, I played a game called Dokapon Kingdom during the party. It's a weird combination of a board game with rpg elements, say Mario party meets Final Fantasy. I've gotta play it again, it's tons of fun. Thanks everyone who came, I really needed today.

A few other highlights of the week:

-Got my birthday present early, Street Fighter IV!
-Hung out with Audrey and Kuu at the mall, chased some sushi around my tray for the first time.
-Went to James' birthday party which was karaoke, sung a 100% run of Don't Stop Believin' by Journey.
-Mom came back home, and she finally got her hydroponic garden she got for Christmas going.
-I guess all the cleaning and helping was good, the house is really nice now.
-Played some more Mario RPG, made me feel really good somehow.

Two more days until my actual birthday! I'm kind of excited ^^

A Nice Start

Good morning everyone. So this I decided to try something out; It was a success.

Toaster waffles, I haven't had them in forever. They're not as good as the real deal of course, but not half bad! And get this: I didn't just stop there, I went ahead and put plain 'ol table syrup on them too - I've eaten jam or something of that sort on them for the past ten years. I Haven't eaten them this way since I was a little guy. Not bad if eaten in moderation I guess.

Today I've got a quiz to write, and I must attend the dreadful "homeroom". Where the teacher sarcastically pretends like he wants to enjoy it, talks for five minutes, and then we all sit there bored for around fifteen minutes. I also need to find my friggin' flash drive - All my work's on that thing. Today's the last day of school this week though, which balances everything out. Oh, and if you're unaware like I was, this Saturday is Valentines day. - We will defeat you Robotnik!!

I think I have a touch of heartburn now - But that might be the chocolate I had within an hour of sleeping last night. Oh well.

A More Awake Post

(Note to make some new 8-bit icons soon)

Hey, today was alright. In geology I grated one of my nails down to nothing doing hardness tests on minerals. Sadly I think Sodium Chloride (Salt) looks pretty damn awesome. In art, I worked more on my "land of the rising NES" folder. I also discussed why playing an actual instrument is more satisfying and fun than a virtual instrument (Rock Band, Guitar Hero). I'm not against the games, I just know that playing an instrument itself is more fun than playing to a preset order. In my tutoring I swear I've managed to achieve around half the class knowing my name already. Not a bad thing considering they ask for my help a lot. I also dropped off a delivery at a friends house and then proceeded to get both mine and his butt kicked in Soul Calibur IV.

I then got home to some bad news that I don't wish to share. It kind of put a damper on the whole day. But I'll try my hardest to not let it affect me too much.

All-in-all today was okay.

Feb. 4th, 2009

Damn

Hmn...

Well I told myself I'd post today... I guess I got halfway there.

I'm tired, and geology is interesting.

Goodnight.

Running on Low.

So, the end of the semester's here... And damn it's apparent. Stress coming from places I didn't know existed and such, just not fun at all. Everything seems so damn urgent, feels as if I screw up once a little bit it's all over for me... Of course I know that's not true, but the stress makes it all feel that way. Ugh, I can't wait for this week to end, and to get my finals done with!

Funny how I'm typing this with my homework spread in front of me, while downloading new tunes, and reading up on things that generally interest me. The stress causes procrastination. No lie.

(I can't even type properly xD, had to retype a ton of that entry.)

Post Holiday Recap/Reflection

Hey guys, here's where I make the mandatory post-holiday recap you must do if you're familiar with the internet and some sort of blog.

First off, I have to say things didn't go at as they should have at all. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, it's just this year was very different from others. I actually have a reason why everything was so different as well. You see, it doesn't snow much where I live, it usually snows a bit once a year around this time and the snow sticks around for a couple of weeks. This year, it snowed for three days straight after the initial day of snow, then it proceeded to stay very cold. Then lo and behold! It snowed even more! I love the snow a ton, don't get me wrong, I just don't enjoy it when it has my famaily spending their time working instead of enjoying the holidays. Snow aside, Christmas itself was pretty good.

This year I didn't ask for too much, just some games, movies, and books. I got two DS, one GBA, and a ps2 game. Most I've ever received in one year game-wise. I also got Iron Man Essentials #1, the Pixar shorts collection, and a whole ton of other stuff. Oh and with all the gift cards I got I managed ot get an Xbox 360, pretty cool. I spent some time with my friends, which was nice. I just would have liked to have spent more time with my family, they all agree too... But whatcha gonna do? Sometimes you have to make the best of what you've got.

New years was pretty fun, hung out with Audrey, Sylvia, Marco, and Alison. We watched good and bad stand up comedy, ate too much junk food, and just had fun. Oh yeah, STÓŁ means table in Polish, in case you didn't know.

Holidays were good, don't wanna go back to school.

Do you remember when...

Gaming Quiz

1) What was your FIRST video game console?
Nintendo Entertainment System.

2) Name a few games you played on said console.
Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, The Legend Of Zelda, Toki, and a bunch of others.

3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, PSone, PS2, Genesis... Eight.

4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
Nut? Well, I loved it/still do. I always thought E.Honda was cool.

5) If you think Capcom is a FUCKING awesome company with kickass character designs?
Maybe, just maybe...

6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
I'd freak pretty badly if it was my own stuff. That's why I like people to bring their own broken controllers.

7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG? I will allow a second and third fave if you insist.
Mario & Luigi hands down.

8) Do you prefer 2D games or 3D games?
2D or 3D has nothing to do with the gameplay mechanics, does it?

9) Are you an SNK fan?
I do love me some Metal Slug, but that's about it...

9) Are you good at DDR?
Idunno, I like playing it.

10) Who wants to kick that dog's ass from Duck Hunt?
I've never held anything against him, my aim really wasn't good back then.

11) Have you skipped out on important events in life because of video games?
I don't think so. The definition of an important life event varies for every person.

12) Do you listen to video game music?
You bet your ass I do.

13) Have you ever cosplayed a VG character..?
Yes, and do really want to do more... Just need to put some effort, will, and confidence.

14) Have you ever been in an arcade playing a fighting game, KICKING ASS, and then some 6 year old asian kid comes in and OWNS YOU??
What if you were giving said Asian kid tips?

15) Name three games you would love to see remakes of if it was done properly.
Toki, a new NA Cybornator (Cybor Suits Vulcan in Japan), and Vectorman!

16) Mario or Sonic?

ARRRGGHH, I don't know!

Probably Mario...

17) When a movie shows up in the theaters, let's use SpiderMan as an example, are you likely to buy the GAME version?
I have a nasty bias against movie-licensed games, they're usually rushed to be out around the same time as the movie release. So no, not very likely.

18) What is your LEAST favorite genre of video games? (ex. fighting, sports, shooters, etc.)
Either Sports or First Person Shooters for being repetitive.

19) Is there a game out there that you feel was unique and didn't get enough love?
Kirby Air Ride, people generally hated it.

20) Have you ever verbally abused a game because you couldn't beat one of the levels and/or bosses?
Many when I was younger... But of course, I wouldn't walk away I HAD TO BEAT IT.

21) Do you own any VG apparel?
Yup.

22) What are your thoughts on the live-action Super Mario Bros movie?
This is a popular one. Okay if you're basing off of the game, it sucked bad. As a movie adaptation using some of the ideas from the game, wasn't half bad.

23) On that note, what did you think about the live-action Street Fighter movie?
Why did the All-American hero Guile have an accent?

24) Who hottest out of the KOF chicks?
I don't know KOF well at all.

25) Do you say "old-school" a lot when you're having a VG conversation with others?
Here and there.

26) Have you ever lent someone a game and they returned it to you damaged?
No, cause they knew the consequences.

27) Do you own any imported games?
Yup, Famicom.

28) Are you ready for this meme to be over, or could you keep going?
It's three in the morning, I should be sleeping.

29) In this scenario, let's pretend you're going to get a video game tattoo! What would you get and where? This can be simple or elaborate.

I always thought about this...

Probably a stylized NES controller or something.

30) Have you ever cried after you beat a game? If so why?

I think I did when I was little, I was so happy I accomplished my goal.

I like gaming, a lot.

Grapefruit

Currently chowing down on a childhood favourite: Grapefruit meat with a pinch of sugar sprinkled over top. Let me tell you, the process of removing the skin, peel, etc of a pink grapefruit is a long and rigorous pain in the ass. Makes me appreciate my parents even more as they always prepared this snack for me when I was four/five (around the same time I discovered Sonic 2; Gooooood times.)

So I've been presented with a scholarship opportunity. It's a small one, but nontheless, a scholarship. What I get if I get chosen is a full scholarship to a twelve-week program of my choice. I'm aware that this program won't impact me too much,  but the tour of EA at the end is what will make it all worthwhile. A foot in the door is a foot in the door, right? If I manage to recover some of last year's work I probably have this in the bag, just means I'm gonna be sketching a lot over the next two weeks whether I like it or not.

In other news it's December. Wow... These months are going by WAY too fast! This also means that the world (or at least my world) has totally converted over to holiday mode. I was kinda freaked out with how everything on tv and around the neighborhood just decided to abruptly change to suit the holidays. Like, no transition whatsoever. Christmas coming means I have to save what little pennies I have to be able to cheap my way out of gifts this year (Next year I'll have you guys moderately decent gifts 'cause I'll have a job and time.) This means extra stress and extra joy all at the same time. I love the holidays and the high spirits they install in people, I just dislike the stress that seems to follow along. But I think the joy is the greater of the two, so it's all good.

Word of advise, don't drink large amounts of limonade in one day; You WILL have an upset stomach combined with other symptoms possibly.

It's been a slice.

Wasabi Peas

They say you are what you eat. I guess that makes me wasabi peas; sweet and spicy.

Today I stayed home because I woke up with my stomach feeling very unsettled... That's over now, my head feels a bit stuffy but I know I can go back to school tomorrow. All I did while home was sleep and watch the puppy, not much you can do while resting.

I've been dreaming about technology recently for some reason. My best dream so far was the one with all my friends and loved ones. We were all on an AC (Armored Core) team, and we were building an AC for an upcoming battle. It was pretty sweet seeing everybody's expertise shine and work together. On the topic of dreams I also had this weird one where my razor started to defy me, and mauled my sideburns and goatee. That was weird, but I think it was a result of me being a bit ancy about grad photos.

Speaking of grad photos, those were funny. They went pretty well, and I guess I got some pretty good pictures taken of myself and with Sephi. The funny part was that I spent a good ten or so minutes tying my tie, which resulted in failure xD. Oh well, like I said: "If things always went smoothly, then life wouldn't be interesting." I find it so hard to not laugh my ass off while I hold a pose for a guy running around like a madman trying to make the lighting optimal for my face. That day taught me that little sleep causes people to be very reluctant, and so you should sleep. I still had fun though.

Sweet and spicy... Heh.

Damn

Yo!

Alright, so I've got toast this morning. Yup, toast. Nothing fancy like usual, this is a result of both being tired and laziness of not wanting to run downstairs for bagels. This bread's real tasty though, so It's all good. I also have a steaming cup of tea beside me, honey gensing lemon to be specific; Gives me a jump start on days when I'm tired. Oh, and there's a puppy behind me patiently waiting for any scraps =P

So the past week's been way better than the previous. Mind you I only have three days of school, I've still managed to have a fairly packed schedule. First, I made an awesome poster-sized picture of one of my characters I brewed up; It came out so well, and I'm quite proud of myself that I left my comfort zone and tried something new. Second, I made some time to finish my app for the RP. Hopefully they like it, if not I'll go at it again. Third, we're starting a new unit on African tribes in my comparative civilizations class. It's really interesting so far. Fourth, I've been tinkering with garageband at school, I'm getting pretty comfortable with it, and making music is fun. And finally, I wrote a 700ish word essay last night four days before it was due.

Take that procrastination!

(Almost done the toast) So I plan on doing some more art real soon. I may link to some stuff next time, so keep a look out!

Gonna go get ready for the day.

Nov. 7th, 2008

Do you remember when...

Finally!

It's Friday, holy crap! I've been waiting for today since Monday, just been one of those weeks for me:

-I had a project due and a member of my group had NOTHING DONE, then went ahead and gave me a word document with a website pasted in it. The nerve.
-I had another teacher suddenly spring a due date on me, after letting us work at our own pace for the past while. Way to give me a heads up...
-Programming will never be easy for me.
-I got assigned a paper, but yesterday I learned it isn't due for a while.
-Have had to wake up even earlier than usual, for sibling has a program she's attending this week.
-Misc. graduation stuff popping up everywhere o_o.

As you can guess, I've been a little stressed. Most of said stress is gone now, thankfully. And besides the test I have today, I'm generally looking forward to the day. Sitting here, typing this up while eating a bagel and yogurt right now. Bagels are brilliant, but I've already gone through that =P.

Oh, leaving note... Just in case you're wondering: I am eating the bagel and yogurt seperate for those who misunderstood.

'Till next time.

Oct. 27th, 2008

Do you remember when...

October 27th, for lack of a better title.

So it's Monday, I stayed home from school today 'cause I didn't sleep well last night... I hate those random shots of insomnia you get once in a blue moon.

In other news the weekend was pretty kickass. I went with Audrey to Metrotown to meet our new friend Alison. We had some good conversations, laughs, and the likes. The downside to that visit was the very cold and long bus waits, though during one of those waits we bumped into a fair number of our other friends going off on their own adventure. The day as a whole was great and I slept plenty that night.

The following day Audrey and I went to Sylvia's house for some Mario Party-pie-feasting-pizza-munchin'-cake-downin' action. Too much fun was was had, as I broke into laughter too many times to count. On an extremely positive note I actually managed to win a game of Mario Party, made me feel so good inside. Then I went ahead and managed to place second in another game, booyeah! After all the festivities, I went home to were I got quite angry due to something that was said. I'm pretty much over it now, I'm just really disappointed what was said.

The last day (Sunday) of the weekend was nice, I got a whole ton of stuff done in the house and helped my parents.

Fast-forward to today: I stayed home, helped dad with some more stuff around the house; we're starting to get things decorated for Halloween.

Man I Gotta quit procrastinating my model sheet for my animation class. I'm sorta intimidated by the amount of drawing it involves, I just gotta get in there and tackle it, once I get going it should be easy.

All-in-all, the last four days have been quite the success. I'm really looking forward to this Week, especially Wednesday. "Why?" You may ask. Well, I'm going to attend Video Games Live, which is, if you don't know (and you may not) a live orchestral concert of gaming music. I'm going with Audrey, and I'm really pumped for it!

Until next time.

Oct. 23rd, 2008

Do you remember when...

Mornin'

... This had a draft saved from July? Whoops.

So, I'm sitting here eating a bagel. Ya'know after the past few months, I've learned that bagels and English muffins are the ultimate breakfast food. They're just so... Customizable. Plus they don't make me feel mysteriously sick to the stomach like cereal does. The only bad thing is when they occasionally cultivate too much of a given spread, then they can be a bit on the nasty side =P. Can you tell I just woke up? I'm discussing the merits of Breakfast baked goods.

I should go get ready as today's the last day of school this week. I'll have more meat in my next entry... Possible pun not intended.
